When Russia Violates American Airspace This Elite Fighter Squadron Strikes Back

Since the Cold War, the United States Military has kept a careful eye on Russia. We are not at war, but our nations are not on the most friendly of terms. Occasionally Russia will fly into restricted American Airspace and when that happens the crew at JBER jumps into action. Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson is the first line of defense against Russia with elite fighter teams ready 24 hours a day. Located in Alaska, the crews at JBER track the positions of Russian fighter aircraft within range of American airspace.

“Our airspace extends to 12 nautical miles and they don’t get within that 12 nautical miles. But because of how big Alaska is we can’t wait to intercept them when they come into that 12 nautical miles. But we will go out there, intercept them in a time and space of our choosing.”

Russian aircraft come within range of the United States very often and JBER is responsible for pushing them out.
