The US Air Force and the US Marine Corps are always hard at work to ensure the safety of our country and protect freedom throughout the world. Both are known for doing different missions to keep defending the world from enemies and each doing their individual jobs. Recently news has trickled out of which one the two divisions work more in terms of military aviation.
Reports have come through which demonstrate that Marine Corps pilots are actually putting in more flight hours and Air Force pilots. The average flight time for the Marine Corps is 14-16 hours per month while USAF pilots lag at 9-10 hours per month. This drop in numbers has been attributed a diminished number pilots as well as flyable aircraft in the US Air Force.
“I don’t have a good reason why they are ahead of us. We are trying to increase about an hour per month going forward this year.”
– Heather Wilson (US Secretary of the Air Force)
This all relates to proper training and experience of current pilots within their respective divisions. Hopefully, things turn around for the US Air Force so they can they can return to proper form as the face of military aviation.
